Happy Birthday Sarah!!!

I've heard people say "your only as old as you feel". Well that may work for some people but I think your getting old when you have to start having parts of you taken out.
Poor Sarah had to spend the majority of Feburary in discomfort and pain because of an "old" gallbladder. Eventually her gallbladder was removed 2 weeks before her birthday in a very successfull surgery. Of course the removal of the gallbladder requires one to alter their normal eating habbits and limit the fatty foods for a while until the body can adjust to the absence of not having the gallbladder to aid in the digesting of food. Sarah was a trooper and was back on her feet within a few days, she was able to manage the pain with medicine and slowly returned to her normal mommy duties. On her birthday Sarah woke up to a Pancake and Potato Breakfast, spent part of her day shopping with her mother, and enjoyed quite the birthday dinner. Although she was not 100% from her surgery, she demanded a "Seafood Soup" dinner and "Coconut Cream Pie" for dessert. The Seafood Soup is a VERY fatening dish made with Onions, Garlic, Butter, Wine, Wine and Wine, then Clams, Mussels, Cream and more Cream, Shrimp, Crab and Parsley. Pour it on some linguini noodles and a couple of slices of bread and WOW! (Warning: you may wake up the next morning feeling dirty). Hey it was her bithday and boy did she take advantage of it. Laurissa insisted on baking her a cake, and after presents she was ready for bed (if you know what I mean). For more pics of Sarah's birthday, check out the slide show to the right of the page.

Palying it Safe...

On Saturday, dad and the kids went to the "Safe Kids Fair" and spent the day increasing our knowledge on safety.

There were police and fire organizations from all over the Salt Lake valley, vendors, radio stations, and a wide variety of kid frendly activities such as food, games, crafts, face painting, free swag and live entertainment on the main stage. Laruissa and Alison enjoyed having some sister & sister time, Alison spent the majority of her time at the "Tea Party" both. Laurissa worked up a sweat playing "Just Dance" at the gaming trailer for a over an hour.

But the big attraction that had Kason all excited, was the chance to meet "Captain America". Well yes, he was able to meet one of his Marvel Superheros and he was offered a job to work with him, after all, he already has part of the costume, and dang can that kid strike a pose...

MONSTER JAM!!!

Kason with his two favorite Monster Trucks...

So while the girls were planning on going to an "all girls" birthday party for their cousin, Kason was feeling a little left out and down in the dumps... What better was to lift your spirits than to attend the "Monster Jam" truck show and enjoy car crushing action while damaging your hearing. Eight colossal trucks from all over the country competing in 3 events, the wheelie competition, the drag race competition and the freestyle competition. Kason and dad enjoyed our nice father & son night out, Kason had been so excited to see the monster truck known as "Gravedigger". Since he had the toy replica at home, it was pretty much the only monster truck he had ever been introduced to. But boy upon the beginning of the show he was excited to see that there was a Marvel monster truck named "Wolverine". Kason having a very influential big sister, has learned to appreciate the awesomeness of the Marvel superheros. Kason faced a major dilemma during one of the competitions when the "Monster Drag Races" came down to the final 2, "Gravedigger" and "Wolverine". Kason chose to root for "Gravedigger", He still has much to learn, "you never doubt a true member of the Avengers Superhero Squad". Boy was his big sister depressed when she found out.. At the top, a picture of Kason after the show with his two favorite trucks in the background, "Gravedigger" and "Wolverine".
Below, the videos of each competition in order, wheelie, drags and freestyle...

Happy Valentines Day...

As we celebrate yet another "Hallmark Holiday" where corporate America conveys the notion that if you don't do something for that special person in your life this particular day, you clearly do not appreciate them. Listen to me corporate America, I have four special someones in my life and I show them what they mean to me everyday. I try to show my love everyday, but today, we are going with the chocolates and candies, breakfast sandwiches, potato pancakes, and fruit. Between my awesome cooking skills and a little help from corporate America, it was a good Valentines day for all of us...

Safety Boy!!!

We were out to Costco over the weekend and Kason decided to show us how to be extra safe in a car by wearing all three seat belts in the back seat. We've got to keep our little ones safe...
Way to show us how it's done Kason...
